Dr. Basaza Robert is a health economist and public health physician of Uganda nationality. Currently, Robert works as a Senior Lecturer at International Health Sciences University and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Mbarara University of Science and Technology and Makerere University College of Health Sciences where he teaches health economics and financing, planning, policy, management and leadership. He is Board member of Uganda Community Based Health Financing Association where he is the advisor to the organization in setting up community health insurance scheme. He has served as Research Scientist in a European Union funded project Makerere University College of Health Sciences: Support Use of Research Evidence for Policy. Robert is involved in knowledge translation for African health systems. He previously headed Planning Division of MOH Uganda where he carried out costing studies for the health sector strategic and investment plan, proposed health insurance scheme and budgeting of the health sector. Robert has worked as District Medical Officer in Kasese District (in-charge of preventive, promotive, administration and financing of services) and Head of South Rwenzori Diocese Health Services. He is familiar with USAID consultancy procedures. He has been a MOST/USAID consultant in a Nutrition Project in Uganda, managed USAID projects at district level key one is Delivery of Improved Services for Health (DISH) project. He has been a consultant in a study on community health insurance for African Strategies for Health project/USAID. Robert can work under pressure and keeps deadlines.
